Registering for the independent plan entitles you to the full workshop - but you must plan for your own accommodation and meals (or buy them online).

Independent Plan :: Meals

It will cost $20 per meal at CYO and it would help us plan if you could indicate which meals you'd like to purchase over the weekend. Meals to consider:-

What you'll need and Schedule

What should I bring?
  • Bokken and jo
  • Notebook and pen
  • Towel
  • Soap and toiletries
  • Flip-flops or slip-on shoes
  • Sweat suit or easy slip-on clothes for trips to the shower or restroom (10 to 50 feet from cabins)
  • Flashlight
  • Lightweight coat or a heavy sweater for cool evenings
  • Sturdy shoes for trail walking and trips from the cabin to the lodge (70 feet to 100 yards from the cabins)
Schedule

The Workshop is designed to be progressive; we will intermix process work and training. Each session will build on the last. Here's the basic layout:

Arrive at 2:00 pm to lay the mats and start training at 3:00 pm (Check-in time will be after the first training, at around 4:30 pm.)

We'll do an evening session on Friday night, and on Saturday,

We'll do process work and train most of the day, building on the work that we did on Friday.

On Sunday, we'll continue this pattern in the morning and wrap up with experiential work, discussion, and review of the weekend from 1:30 to 3:00 pm on Sunday.

For Full Plan registrants, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are at 8:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 6:00 pm, respectively.

For those who can only make the Saturday, we will have a quick revision of the previous evenings sessions but you are advised to get there early on Saturday to soak it all up! The first class starts at 7am.

Please register ASAP - We need to give CYO plenty of warning about numbers!

Location

The CYO Retreat Center is located amidst 216 acres of towering redwood forest and open meadow in historical western Sonoma County, just six miles from the Pacific Ocean and a short walk away from the town of Occidental, CA. (~ 60 miles North of San Francisco) You can fly into either the San Francisco or Oakland airports. There is no airport shuttle service to the CYO Camp, but car rentals are available at both airports. We also have a few volunteers for ride-sharing, primarily from the San Francisco airport.

Accommodations (Full Plan)

We will occupy 10-20 camp-style heated cabins with 6 bunk beds per cabin.

We'll sleep 4-6 people per cabin.

Restrooms and showers are about 10 to 50 feet away from any cabin.

At check-in, we'll provide sheets, pillow, pillowcase and a blanket.
